A bit about Juice it
1. Where did our inspiration come from?
I came back from a trip to Australia with my children in April 2015. Juicing out there is just a way of life and has been for years. I am a Nutritionist and have made and demonstrated juicing to my clients for a few years now, and when I got talking to my Best Friend Sophie Robins at the beach in West Wittering, while walking our dogs, (in May 2015) with all this inspiration around us we decided to set up a stall at the Chichester farmers market (as we couldn’t afford a shop at this point!) with our Juices and see how it went. The first Farmers market we attended we made 100 juices, not having a clue if we would sell 1 or 81, and totally sold out before the end of the day. It was at that moment we realized there was a high demand for healthy Juice in Chichester!
2. Why is Juice it special from other juice companies?
Our juices stand out because they have a short shelf life of 6 days. We don’t pasteurise, process or tamper in anyway. As much of our fruit and vegetables as possible are either local or organic and we cold press juice them all ourselves. Blood, sweat and tears go into those juices and when we have big orders we have been known to juice until 3.00 in the morning! Our company policy is to get them out to our clients as quickly as possible. (24 hours normally from being made to delivery) We make them all in my kitchen, have a 5 star food a hygiene certificate and health is our sole aim. Sophie is a chef and I am a Nutritionist so between us we can get the ingredients and taste perfect. We also deliver to our customers doors like the new age milkman! We deliver with a pretty face and a smile!
3.How important is social media?
Social media has been vital. So many of our customers have come from Facebook and I have had many conversations with other business owners on linked in and twitter. It’s a great way for us to get exposure to a larger audience.
4. What are our dreams for juice it?
We have many dreams for ‘Juice it’. We would love to get a shop where we can have a funky bar to sell our juices from. Plus it would stop my drains getting plugged up! Then we would like to expand to larger companies and corporate events who wish to keep their staff happy and healthy. We would like fresh juice to be in primary, secondary and private schools across the country so every child and teenager can feel the benefits this offers to their wellbeing. We are already supplying a few gyms locally, and would also like to expand in that area too, as well as hospitals and cosmetic clinics. Beauty begins from within!
5. Has being in Manuka (the local health shop) helped Juice it?
Manuka whole foods in Chichester has been an amazing success for us. We sell lots of juice to their customers and deliver to them at least twice per week, but sometimes more. We are very lucky to have such great support from a very well respected and reportable health shop. The first delivery we made to manuka was 30 juices and I think we sold out in two days! There was a real buzz around the juices and it gave us so much joy and excitement that they had been so well received.
7. Is your clientele growing?
Our clientele is growing all the time and word of mouth means that people are talking about us and that demand is getting higher.
8. How well do we and our business partner work together?
Sophie and I have worked together on many projects such a charity balls, pop up restaurants and other fund raising events. We knew we worked extremely well together and compliment each other well. We know our strengths and weaknesses and value each other’s opinions. Our children are best friends too, which is a good thing as they are now spending even more time together labelling our products and getting amazing production lines going! We had never actually been involved in anything together that made money for ourselves, and we have both had a few tough years financially for different reasons. So we just thought ‘why not!’. ‘Lets just go for it!’. It is probably the hardest we have both worked, both mentally and physically, but the feeling of being proud and successful is worth it! We have a laugh most days and get to make people feel amazing! What more could you want! We haven’t taken a single penny for ourselves yet as everything we earn goes back into the business, but we are seeing the curve of success, so all the time people want our healthy juices and smoothies we will keep making them!
9. Do you think people are more conscious of being healthy?
Health is on the up and more and more people are aware how much better you feel if you juice daily. The fact that we do a free delivery service within a 10 mile radius of Chichester helps I think. With everyone’s busy lives, I know many people know the benefits of juicing and smoothing, but haven’t necessarily got time to do it daily. That’s where we come to the rescue! Health in a bottle seems to be what people want!
