About Denise

My discovery of nutrition was no accident! Life events led me to the path I am on, and it was all meant to be.

About Denise Kelly

I was very fortunate in having a truly blessed and calm childhood.

After schooling and college in Chichester I landed the most amazing job on one of the most Luxurious yachts in the World to work as a massage Therapist! While my other friends went off travelling in Thailand with ruck sacks on their backs, I was cruising down the Amazon on a luxury Yacht loving every moment. I had the time of my life, met the most amazing people and visited some incredible places. I felt very lucky!

When back in England, I met my husband, got married and had my beautiful daughter. This is where my journey of discovery into the world of Nutrition began, and I didn’t even know it. I started to get really ill with a variety of digestive problems. Not knowing there were any alternative options I went to see the doctor and spent the next year going from one prescription to another. Nothing was helping, I felt exhausted and I was in pain every day. The experience was really frightening. I became weaker as I lost more weight than I was comfortable with and eventually after many appointments with the doctor, I was finally sent to a specialist. All tests came back ok, but I didn’t know where to turn and more importantly I didn’t know what to eat. A friend of our families suggested I go and see an Ayurvedic Doctor to see if she could help. What I was about to learn was going to change my life. Food can actually make you sick, and food can make you well!! Sounds ridiculously stupid to me now, but back then, I honestly had no idea!!

What this practitioner did for me was immediately make me feel like I was normal. She understood all my symptoms and told me why it was happening. I felt angry that no Dr had been able to give me this simple information. I began reading books, lots of books, about health and Nutrition from all walks of life and nationalities. I became so passionate about Nutrition that it became almost obsessive! During this time I went on to have my second child, my handsome, healthy son. My own health went up and down for a few years after that. I sort of knew what to do, but wasn’t always sure how to apply it into my life.

When I thought about it, what the Ayurvedic practitioner had given me was the greatest gift of all, and that was hope. It was from this place of hope that pushed and inspired me to learn more and more about Nutritional Healing. I wanted to put all the pieces of my jigsaw together, I needed a firm foundation of learning to ground all the information I had learned from all these books and be able to apply them to my own life correctly and all of those around me.

In the summer of 2006, I made a decision with my family that I wanted to go back and study what had become my passion. My dream would be to give hope to people who are sick, to help them make their lives better, and where possible free from discomfort and pain.

I went to Brighton to study Naturopathic Nutrition and have never looked back. It has completely changed my life. I put in a massive amount of work to achieve my exam results, but the rewards now are constant, not just for me or my clients, but for the whole of my family and friends. I am now an assistant Tutor to yr 1 and yr 2 students and enjoy giving back so others can learn.

Whilst studying I worked on a local project educating young overweight children about Nutrition and Exercise. At the time I did it for the experience of learning a little more about Nutrition, but not for one minute did I expect to feel so passionate about teaching children, nor did I realise the scale of malnutrition in the UK. What I mean by this is that children are getting sick from eating the wrong type of foods, not because they don’t have food!

Now I know what I know, my mission is to educate as many people as I possibly can on how to really look after themselves. The amount of unnecessary suffering out there is distressing.

What my studies have taught me is that the ONLY person that is responsible for your health is YOU! I believe in educating my clients to take responsibility for their own health and the health of their families.

Life is for Thriving, not just surviving! I really like that saying and I use it all the time as it sums up for me how so many people are living. They are just surviving in this treadmill of a world, just getting through the day without an ounce of energy remaining!

Nutrition is not just about curing or preventing disease. It’s much more than that. It’s about balancing the body, feeding all the organs and allowing the brain to function properly. This in turn helps us to stay focused, make better decisions in our lives as be much more conscious to live in the moment. If we feel good it breeds positivity, and that is the most important thing for people to feel!

To deal with emotional issues and blockages I have also studied Life Coaching and E.F.T (Emotional Freedom Techniques). I realised health has many aspects such as Physical, emotional and spiritual. When you heal one, you heal another.

I believe knowledge empowers you, and nothing is more important than looking after your health and the health of those around you. That’s why I feel privileged to do what I do, and even more privileged because I love what I do with an absolute passion.
