Serious Illness
Taking the fear away from illness
When I started studying Nutrition I was looking for answers to make people well. I felt that the whole of Western society was living in fear of serious disease. Everywhere you look someone knows someone who has been diagnosed with a serious disease, be it Cancer, Heart conditions, neurological dysfunctions, M.E or M.S. etc. (The list is endless). It was as if life became a Russian Roulette....who was the next one to fall? I knew there must be a way to protect you, and your loved ones and I wanted to find a way to maintain a good level of health on a permanent basis that made sense and that wasn’t too difficult.
Vitamins and Minerals have their place. They can work wonders, but if you just throw them at an already sick body it’s going to be very hard for them to do their job properly. I have heard hundreds of people say to me in the past that they tried this and that and nothing seems to work. What I have discovered is that if your house is dirty, (meaning your body/blood) you don’t just pull a sheet over the house to cover it up leaving it in that state do you? You don’t put wall paper up over the peeled, dirty and damaged paper that is already there. No, you clean up, bit by bit. You do a room at a time dusting, cleaning, hovering. You clean it up, you take away that dirty paper and you prepare and make way for the new!! This also takes time, and if you want to do it properly it will be easier to maintain in the future........THAT IS HOW THE BODY WORKS!!!
The effort you put in now with your health will be well worth the rewards in the future. Your future is in your hands and YOU are the only person responsible for your health. It takes time to rid the body of disease and discomfort, but if you are prepared to put in the time and the effort you can make yourself well. It is actually much harder to remove toxic overload from the body than it is to maintain a healthy system that is already functioning well, so why wait for that pain or that feeling that something is not right. Step on that spring clean straight away. Start cleaning your house TODAY!! I teach all my clients to look at food in two simple ways.
- LIVE FOODS - that gives us energy and maintains our trillions of healthy cells – fruits, Vegetables, Oats, whole grains, nuts, seeds, oils, super foods etc etc. In other words the stuff that you can grow and that is fresh the way nature intended!!
- DEAD FOODS – this has NO nutritional value at all and will do our body more harm than good if we eat them – processed meats, all processed or packet foods such as biscuits, crisps, cakes and ready meals that you give an extra blast of toxicity too in the Microwave just before you put it in your delicate but amazing system called your BODY.
During my studies and my mission to find a healthy way to live I came across many theories and a range of great ideas. The one area that made total sense to me was that of the work of Dr Robert Young and the work of Max Gerson, who founded the Gerson Therapy. Both of these ideas are based on drenching the body in goodness, alkalising the system and creating harmony within the body. They made total sense to me and when I started eating an alkalising diet I felt amazing. I studied more in-depth and gained a great deal of knowledge and true understanding of how the body cannot function well in an acidic environment. By this I mean on a physical, emotional and Spiritual level.
Physical – On a physical level it’s about what you put in your body. Starting with the water you drink to the foods you eat. Every food and drink has either an acidic or alkalising effect on your body once it has entered your mouth. This section is also about exercise and oxygenating the cells.
Emotional – If you are emotionally distressed, angry, unhappy, stuck in a situation you do not want to be in, miserable or frustrated then this will have a negative effect on the body and will create an acidic environment.
Spiritual – If you are lost in the world, have no purpose or direction this will cause the emotional imbalances mentioned. All these things are important to creating your balance.
The body is an amazing machine and will go to great lengths to maintain balance. It is not working against you and will be as good as it can be, but if you keep putting the wrong fuel in the engine....eventually it will break down. With the hectic lifestyles that we all lead, and the convenience foods that are readily available, it is very easy, and far too common for the body tissues to become acidic. Such imbalance opens the doors for chaos, allowing sickness and disease in. Over acidification of body fluids and tissues underlies ALL disease.
It is only when the body is acidic that the body is vulnerable to germs, in a healthy alkaline balanced body, germs have more problem getting a foothold. I believe acids are the expression of all sickness and disease and good health requires a body in proper acid and alkaline balance. ..Diet is the only way this is achievable.
Our body temperature must be maintained at 98.6 degrees and our blood is maintained at 7.365ph which is mildly alkaline. Physiological disease is almost always the result of too much acid stressing the body’s ph balance to the point where it provokes the body into producing symptoms of disease. Symptoms can be the expression of that stress or a sign of the body’s effort to balance it.
Excess Acid is something we do ourselves due to the choices we make, the great and exciting news is that if we can recognise this then we can also make the choices to do something about it!
The body may use the skin as a route of elimination for the build up of acids. This may show itself as eczema, acne, boils, headaches, muscle cramps, soreness, swelling, irritation, inflammation and general aches and pains. Chronic symptoms show up when all possibilities of neutralizing or elimination have been exhausted. When acid wastes build up in the body and enters the bloodstream the circulatory system will try to get rid of them in liquid form, through the lungs or kidneys. If there is too much waste to handle then it is deposited in various organ systems, including the heart, pancreas, liver, colon, or stored in fatty tissues, including the breasts, hips, thighs, belly and brain.
In a nutshell your body, your health depends on an alkaline environment created by you when you eat such foods as tomatoes, avocados and green vegetables combined with small amounts of mildly acidic foods such as fish, grains and certain fruits. It is the balance of eating 80% alkaline foods and 20% acid that will regulate the chemistry within your body. This will control every aspect of your health including maintaining your correct weight, a healthy system free from dis-ease and increase your stamina, strength and immunity.
Taking the fear out of disease and giving you the tools and the power to control your own health is truly a gift.
The choice is yours!!!
